‘Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham’ is out now on 4K Ultra HD
I have enjoyed many of the DC Elseworlds animated films. Superman: Red Son showed what would happen if this hero landed somewhere else and how this would change their path. Batman: Gotham by Gaslight had the caped crusader taking on a dangerous serial killer. When I heard about Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham I couldn’t wait to check it out. I was able to get a review copy of this movie and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Batman The Doom That Came to Gotham here:
A 1920s-based tale that finds explorer Bruce Wayne accidentally unleashing an ancient evil, expediting his return to Gotham City after a two-decade hiatus. The logic/science-driven Batman must battle Lovecraftian supernatural forces threatening the sheer existence of Gotham, along the way being aided and confronted by re-imagined versions of his well-known allies and enemies, including Green Arrow, Ra’s al Ghul, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Two-Face, James Gordon and Bruce’s beloved wards. Prepare for a mystical, often terrifying Batman adventure unlike any other.
I had a great time watching this animated film. We see Batman start to come into contact with mysterious forces, ones they don’t fully understand. It seems a deadly threat is coming to Gotham, and they might be the only one who can stop it. Along the way they see some strange things, and they don’t always comprehend what they are meant to do right away. Yet as this story nears its end, this hero makes the ultimate sacrifice, one that changes them forever. Fans of previous Elseworlds DC animated movies will want to check this one out.
Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham is available now on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-Ray.
