The cast of Beauty and the Beast came to Sac Anime and it was a panel for the record books
Sac Anime has been in Sacramento for many years. It began as a small convention, but in recent years continues to grow in size. I have been attending for a few years and although it has had its minor hiccups, it is definitely getting better. At the last Sac Anime there was a reunion panel for the cast of Beauty and the Beast. I was lucky to be there and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Beauty and the Beast below:
An arrogant young prince and his castle’s servants fall under the spell of a wicked enchantress, who turns him into the hideous Beast until he learns to love and be loved in return. The spirited, headstrong village girl Belle enters the Beast’s castle after he imprisons her father Maurice. With the help of his enchanted servants, including the matronly Mrs. Potts, Belle begins to draw the cold-hearted Beast out of his isolation.
The Beauty and the Beast reunion panel consisted of Robby Benson (voice of the Beast), Paige O’ Hara (voice of Belle), Richard White (voice of Gaston), Bradley Pierce (voice of Chip), Nik Ranieri (Animator) and Rick Farmiloe (animated LeFou). The cast told stories about the making of the movie, bringing the story to life and all the work taken to make sure this story was told the right way. The cast had a lot of great things to say about this movie, and fans had the room full for this panel.
The best part of the Beauty and the Beast reunion panel was the Q and A portion. This film has touched so many people’s lives that some fans had a hard time getting their question out. Yet when this happened the cast was patient and understanding. There was an touching moment where Paige O’ Hara came down from the stage and sang some of ‘Little Town’ with one of her fans. Her voice still sounds amazing, it was a highlight of the panel for me. Fans that want to learn more about Beauty and the Beast can click on this website.
