The unbelievable true story ‘Adrift’ is coming to Blu-Ray
There are many films that come out each year based on a true story. Some of them are wonderful, while others for whatever reason fall flat. It doesn’t mean the story it tells is bad, it just isn’t always a good movie. When I heard of Adrift I had my doubts about it. I was able to get a review copy and here is what I thought about it.
You can read the plot for Adrift here:
As the two sailors set out on a journey across the ocean, Tami Oldham (Woodley) and Richard Sharp (Claflin) couldn’t anticipate they would be sailing directly into one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history. In the aftermath of the storm, Tami awakens to find Richard badly injured and their boat in ruins. With no hope for rescue, Tami must find the strength and determination to save herself and the only man she has ever loved.
I wasn’t that impressed by Adrift. It told a good story, but it was boring and slow pretty much for the whole film. The movie jumps back from the past to the present a lot, and this makes it a bit hard to follow sometimes. Shailene Woodley is not bad here, and has a few good scenes. There is a reveal towards the end I didn’t see coming, but it wasn’t that shocking either. Some people may like this film, but it certainly won’t be for everyone.
