Bridget Jones’s Baby is a satisfying end to this film series
I am on the fence when it comes to romantic comedies. There are great ones like The Wedding Singer, There’s Something About Mary and 10 Things I Hate About You. I have also seen some odd ones like Along Came Polly, Wedding Crashers and Good Luck Chuck. There is a new romantic comedy coming out this week called Bridget Jones’s Baby. Here is what I thought of this film.
Here is the plot for Bridget Jones’s Baby:
Breaking up with Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) leaves Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger) over 40 and single again. Feeling that she has everything under control, Jones decides to focus on her career as a top news producer. Suddenly, her love life comes back from the dead when she meets a dashing and handsome American named Jack (Patrick Dempsey). Things couldn’t be better, until Bridget discovers that she is pregnant. Now, the befuddled mom-to-be must figure out if the proud papa is Mark or Jack.
I really liked Bridget Jones’s Baby. I have seen the first film but I have not seen the sequel to it, so I was not sure what I would think of this newest chapter. There is plenty of comedy, some tragic moments and plenty of heartfelt scenes to pull at your heart strings. You don’t even have to watch the previous films to understand what is going on in this one. Renee Zellweger was made to play Bridget. It was great to see her back in this role and she is what makes this film great.
I also enjoyed the soundtrack to this film. The songs are great and the score is perfect bringing the right feeling to plenty of scenes to make them memorable and funny. Overall this is a film plenty of people will like and fans of the previous installments will want to see this one. To learn more about Bridget Jones’s Baby head over to this website.
Bridget Jones’s Baby gets 8/10. It had me laughing more than I thought it would. It also had me rooting for a certain character the whole way through. There is a great love triangle going on here and there are plenty of questions that don’t get answered until the final few minutes. The suspense may annoy some people but I think fans will like how everything turns out in the end.
