But in terms of hype, it was the South Korean seven-member group BTS that stole the spotlight. BTS became the first K-pop group to perform at a major American awards show, and the septet made a major impression at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with a rendition of the hit song “DNA.” Their appearance certainly didn’t go unnoticed. Good Morning America said on Monday that around 20 million tweets were sent out about BTS at the AMAs, which makes sense considering that the boy band has two Twitter accounts, each with more than 7 million followers, and “DNA” has been streamed more than 64 million times on Spotify alone. BTS’s followers, who refer to themselves as ARMY, loved what they saw: Over the last three days, @BTS_TWT (the more popular account with 10.3 million followers) has an 86 percent positive score. –Alex Shultz
