A Chat with Danny Trejo about his film ‘Dead Again in Tombstone’
I have been a fan of Danny Trejo for years. He has been in a lot of films in his long career. His newest film Dead Again in Tombstone is different type of Western. I was able to ask him a few questions about this film, and learned a lot about him as a person. Here is what he told me about this new movie.

How did you hear about this particular role?
Danny Trejo: Well, I love Westerns first of all. John Wayne is my hero. I am so sorry I never got to work with him. I love that superhero guy on the horse. No, I don’t got to wear tights. You ever see a tough cowboy wear tights? (laughs) We did the first one Dead in Tombstone and it was so much fun man. We were cool anyway and we had a lot of fun.
So how did you prepare for this role?
Danny Trejo: I have been preparing for this role all my life. He is an absolute tough guy with a heart, you know what I mean. He tries to help but is basically a killer.

What was the biggest challenge for you playing this role?
Danny Trejo: Riding a buffalo (laughs). I rode a bison in it. A big old buffalo. If you have ever sat on a buffalo, it is kind of like sitting by a Cadillac El Dorado. It sounds they are running when they breath. I was sitting on this massive, almost 2,000 pound animal, and he is wild. Basically when I asked the guy is he tame, he said well he is as tame as he can be. But it was an amazing experience.
What was your favorite part about being in this movie?
Danny Trejo: Well, I got to be in Calgary, Canada. I’ve never been there. It is a beautiful, beautiful country. I have never seen more deer or elk in my life. They were just running wild like rabbits up there. I am not a hunter, but my dad was. If he was still alive he would have loved it up there. He would have shot everything up there.

Why do you think people should watch Dead Again in Tombstone?
Danny Trejo: Well I think it is exciting and a throwback to the old Westerns. If you like Westerns they you are going to love this movie. It is a Western Zombie kind of mix. The zombies are not like in The Walking Dead. They just realize that the devil has made a deal with these guys and you can’t kill them. It is also exciting as hell (laughs).
