‘Batman: Court of Owls’ Has This Hero Face A Real Tough Enemy

Batman is forced to face his past in ‘Court of Owls’

Until Gotham had The Court of Owls on it, I knew very little about them. I had heard good things about the comic, but had never read it before. When I saw there was an essential edition coming out, I was eager to check it out. I was able to get a digital copy of this graphic novel and here is what I thought of it.

Hidden for years, a secret organization known as the Court of Owls suddenly surfaces in Gotham City. But why? As Batman begins to unravel the deadly mystery, he discovers a conspiracy going back to his youth and beyond to the origins of the city he’s sworn to protect. Could the Court of Owls, once thought to be nothing more than an urban myth, be behind the never-ending crime and corruption in Gotham? Or is Bruce Wayne losing his grip on sanity and falling prey to the pressures of being Batman?

I was very impressed with Batman: Court of Owls. It was a gritty story that pushed Batman in ways he isn’t used to. This secret organization found ways to harm him that will take him a while to heal from. It made him wonder so many things about his past, and as this saga came to a close he gets left with more questions than answers. In this edition we also get to see a bit of Alfred’s past, and how a choice he made had dire consequences for the Wayne family.
