The chain restaurant found itself as the butt of some poop-related jokes this week after one of its mascots made waves for his unseemly appearance. That would be “Sausage,” which, at best resembles an undercooked sausage wearing a fedora, and worst, a turd with a hat. This is a rare case of something going viral after years of lying dormant—Sausage and his friends, the Grand Slams (aka “Pancake,” “Bacon” and “Egg”) were actually introduced in 2014. They’ve existed as part of an advertising campaign that includes 28 episodes of animated shorts on TheGrandSlams.com, where Sausage refers to himself as “spicy.” A few Twitter users shot pictures of Sausage out in the world, and that was enough to get people talking (and laughing) about him. Over the last three days, “Dennys Mascot” has an 84 percent positive score on Social. –Alex Shultz
