The rebooted version of ‘Hellboy’ is coming to Blu-Ray

I have seen the previous Hellboy movies. I have to say they were both really good. They had a great cast, wonderful visual effects and told a real strong story. Recently I was also able to watch two of the animated films which were also quite good. When I heard about a new Hellboy coming out I hoped it would be good. Reviews weren’t that great but I decided to give it a chance anyway. Here is my thoughts on this reboot.

You can read the plot for Hellboy here:

Hellboy is back, and he’s on fire. From the pages of Mike Mignola’s seminal work, this action-packed story sees the legendary half-demon superhero (David Harbour) called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.

I wasn’t that impressed with Hellboy. David Harbour does his best playing this character, but sadly it isn’t enough to make it a good reboot. Ian McShane is a talented actor, but he was miscast playing Professor Bloom. What hurts this movie the most though is the plot. With it trying to go in so many different directions it can be hard to keep up. Once it goes back to the main story, too much ends up getting lost along the way. This movie also runs longer than necessary. There are a few good deleted scenes and a pretty interesting 3 part documentary. If you want to learn more about Hellboy click on this website.
