Ellen Page rocked the world over the weekend when she came out as a gay woman. Her words will hit you harder.
Most of you may have heard that Ellen Page, most recognizably known as Juno, came out during a speech at the Human Rights Campaign event, “Time to THRIVE,” on Valentine’s Day. However, hearing about it and actually listening to her words, are completely different. The actress first talks about how difficult society makes it today to be true to yourself. She then goes on to say that we need to take the time to be less horrible to one another, however, the only way to do that is to first love yourself. She says it is because of this organization that she found the strength to love herself.
“I’m here today because I am gay, and because… maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time.”
Her honesty warranted a standing ovation, and her words don’t just inspire the LGBT community, they inspire everyone. Celebrities took to Twitter to commend the young actress and send their support. Watch the full clip above.
