Michael Kamber (https://www.nytimes.com/by/
Here is his 12/19/2011 piece in the NYT, “Bearing Witness in Iraq”. As American troops left Iraq, he reflected on eight years of war photography.

His talk will include his visual images over the years to enhance the discussion. He is among the best ever photographers who risked their lives over and over again to shoot the truth about American conflicts overseas.
I have known Michael for over 15 years now. I used to go to the end of my driveway at our house in Westport to get the physical Sunday New York Times (back when that was a thing) and many times I would pick up the paper to look at the front cover image and search the photo credit to find my friend Michael’s name.
This is Michael’s original video and written contributions to GMP which are probably the best introduction to him and his life: https://goodmenproject.
Michael was extremely close to fellow photojournalist Tim Hetherington who bled out on the battle field in Lybia on April 20, 2012. He came to me/GMP to write about his friend.
Here is a very moving clip of Mike interviewing Tim: https://www.youtube.com/
