A class gets to perform this well known play again in ‘Sound of Music’
Last time on Encore!, a group of classmates were brought back together to perform Beauty and the Beast. It had been many years since they had seen each other, and much had changed in their lives. Naturally some nerves came up, but with the help of a special guest they ended up being just fine. Once the curtain went down the performance was an astounding success. Now another group of people come together again in ‘Sound of Music’. I was able to watch a screener of this episode and here are my thoughts on it.
You can read the premise for ‘Sound of Music’ here:
Twenty-seven years after students from Michigan’s Flint Central High School performed “The Sound of Music,” the cast returns to reprise the roles of their youth with the help of Broadway professionals. As they reconnect, these friends — some of whom haven’t been on a stage in a decade — wrestle with the past, struggle with the present and reconnect in ways that will alter their future.
It was fun seeing this group of classmates come together again in ‘Sound of Music’. This was different from previous episodes because their old school was no longer open. As rehearsal moved along some nerves came to the surface. Once dress rehearsal came to an end some cast members feared this wasn’t going to go so well. Yet as the production came to an end the audience seemed to enjoy watching every minute of it.
Encore! airs new episodes Fridays on Disney Plus.
