Lzzy and her mates cover AC/DC, Marilyn Manson, and…Daft Punk?

There are no bigger music fans than musicians, and that’s what makes cover albums so cool. Frontwoman Lzzy Hale says this about Halestorm’s new album:

In all honesty, we did ReAniMate 2.0 half as something fun for our fans, but it’s also a little selfish for our part. It’s a chance for us to learn more about our craft and play fun songs that we either grew up on or loved on the radio, and break them down and build it up as our own.

We learn a lot about ourselves and musicians and songwriters by doing this. It’s actually more difficult than doing an original album, because there’s so much to choose from, and you want to pick  songs that reflect you while adding your own spin and honoring the original. So we’re challenging ourselves, and it’s a way to keep it fresh.

The band’s cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman” is pure goosebump music. They don’t change up the song much, but it’s a showcase for Hale’s strong voice.  Other songs in the collection include:

The oddball of the bunch is also maybe the coolest, a cover of Daft Punk’s summer smash “Get Lucky.” Check it out:
