‘Hell or High Water’ A Wonderful Modern Day Western

Hell or High Water will take viewers on an action packed ride

I was not sure what to expect from Hell or High Water. This is not usually the kind of movie I am interested in. I am not always a fan of dramatic movies, they can be dull or boring to me most of the time. Yet after talking to some of my friends I decided to check it out. Here is what I thought of this modern day bank heist film.

Here is the plot for Hell or High Water:

Toby (Chris Pine) is a divorced father who’s trying to make a better life for his sons. His brother Tanner (Ben Foster) is an ex-convict with a short temper and a loose trigger finger. Together, they plan a series of heists against the bank that’s about to foreclose on their family ranch. Standing in their way is Marcus (Jeff Bridges), a Texas Ranger who’s only weeks away from retirement. As the siblings plot their final robbery, they must also prepare for a showdown with a crafty lawman who’s not ready to ride off into the sunset.

I really enjoyed Hell or High Water. The first thing that drew me in was the amazing soundtrack. I am not normally a fan of country music but there wasn’t one song I didn’t like in this movie. Each song increases the mood of whatever is going on at that moment. The cast is amazing with everyone giving their all to their roles. There is a scene with an old woman waitress in a restaurant that is absolutely hilarious. She is tough as nails and her tone fits this movie like a glove. What I liked most about this movie though is how these two brothers aren’t stealing just because they can. An injustice has been done to them and many others in town thanks to big banks. Their goal is a surprise yet it is very noble one. This film ends in an odd way but it is still really clever. People who want to learn more about Hell or High Water should check this website out.

Hell or High Water has earned 9/10. This films takes viewers on an amazing ride and none of it is dull or boring. This movie keeps you entertained from the start right to the final moments. You won’t always be sure what is going to happen next yet they all have a reason in the greater narrative. There were a few twists that I didn’t see coming which only made me like this film more. Overall it is an original story that plenty of people need to see this weekend. Definitely one of the better movies I have seen in a long time.
