With tons of playable characters, different modes and a dark plot this is a must play for gamers of all ages
The Legend of Zelda has always been a popular game series for Nintendo. It has been on all of their console systems and a few of the handheld ones. The plot is always pretty similar with some kind of threat appearing and only a hero clad in green is able to save the land. Usually this takes place in the land of Hyrule but this is not always the case. There is usually only Link as a playable character but this game changes all of that. It is a new kind of Legend of Zelda game that is one of the best games to come out in years. Here are some reasons why fans need to play this game.
The game begins in the land of Hyrule where for some reason a huge army of monsters has banded together to attack the castle. Zelda and Impa have to get ready to fight this upcoming threat and use as many soldiers as they can so the castle will not fall. A strange new recruit decides to come to their aid and miraculously helps them achieve victory. Zelda is impressed but she had a feeling that there was something special about this man. Evil has gained new strength thanks to Volga, Cia and Wizzro who have come together to set a horrible event in motion.
Long ago one of the heroes of time used the master sword to break a deadly evil into four pieces and trapped them in four different timelines so that this evil could never again threaten Hyrule again. But if Wizzro, Cia and Volga find these fragments and join them back together there is no telling what could happen, only that it is best to keep them apart. It is up to Link, Zelda, Impa and a few new allies to stop them before it is too late. Why do they want to find these fragments so badly? What are their evil plans? And will Link be able to stop them before it is too late?
The game comes with some familiar weapons like bombs, the hookshot, bow and arrows, bottles for potion or fairies, the boomerang, and of course the basic sword and shield for Link. Every character you can play is able to gain experience which open the door for new abilities and players can also obtain badges by picking up materials from certain enemies. These make a big difference especially once the game really begins to get going, and they can help with attack power, defense or assistance.
Legend Mode is the story version of the game and is also a good place for your characters to build experience, get some more hearts and to pick up new weapons. The gold skullutas have returned to the series but not in a way they have been used before. This time when a player defeats one they get a strange illustration piece. When you collect enough of these you are able to make new mixtures that will aid your party in battle and sometimes could give them the edge they need to be victorious; so it is a good idea to collect as many of them as you can.
There is also Adventure mode which takes place on a map that is a throw back to the 8 bit Legend of Zelda. This mode has certain areas that will only be accessible once you move forward in Legend Mode. It is here where your party can gain more hearts, players can unlock new characters and a ton of stronger weapons. But the challenges fans will have to face will not be easy. Some of them are a true pain in the rear and the only way to beat them is by coming back once your party is stronger, but trust me each reward is so worth it.
There is also a challenge mode which is a good way to push your characters to the limits. Once you finish one another one appears that is guaranteed to be harder and more frustrating. There is also some downloadable content that you can purchase in the Nintendo eShop. There is a Termina Adventure Mode Map, a Twilight Princess Map, some new characters to unlock and many different costumes for all of the playable characters. Most of these are affordable and are a great way to keep the game going and will continue to challenge you once the game is over. This game has earned 8/10. It is a very different Zelda game but it has pieces of its story that fans will be familiar with and a few new surprises along the way. It will not be for everyone but the majority of Zelda fans will have a blast playing this game. The game is definitely a challenge but that is a great thing, it makes for a game that will not be easily finished and some levels will take multiple attempts to complete. There is a ton of great things here that together make for a very fun game. It can be played by all ages and fans new and old should not miss this one.
