‘It’s Not Yet Dark’ Tells an Amazing True Story of Perseverance

‘It’s Not Yet Dark’ Tells a Touching Story of never giving up

It has been a while since I have read an autobiography. I really like this type of book though. Each one has given me a newfound respect for the person it is about. It’s Not Yet Dark is an amazing book. The story it tells is truly fascinating. I was able to get a review copy and here is what I thought of it.

You can read the plot for It’s Not Yet Dark here:

At the age of 33, Fitzmaurice was a promising filmmaker and a father of two young boys, with a third on the way. So when his foot went numb and an ALS diagnosis swiftly upended his world, he made the bold decision to go against medical advice and rely on a ventilator to survive. Despite his compromised abilities, he continues to write and direct movies and even conceived twins with his wife—“the ultimate expression of being alive,” he says.

It’s Not Yet Dark draws us deeply into Fitzmaurice’s inner world. Told in simply expressed and beautifully stark prose, it is an astonishing journey into a life that, though brutally compromised, is lived more fully than most, revealing at its core the potent power love has to carry us through the days. Fitzmaurice’s incredible ability to laugh, create, and simply carry on in the face of tragedy is sure to mesmerize and move you.

I really enjoyed reading It’s Not Yet Dark. The story it told is an amazing one. The trials he goes through as this illness gets progressively worse is inspiring. No matter how bleak things may seem at times, he refuses to let it bring him down. Although he has his tough times, he makes sure his life continues moving forward. It was truly one of the best autobiographies I have read in a good while. To learn more about It’s Not Yet Dark click on this website.
