It’s the Crowd vs. the Critics Over ‘The Foreigner’

The Foreigner sees Chan avenging his daughter’s death at the hands of terrorists and taking down the corrupt government officials behind it. Chan has spent seven long years away from Hollywood movie studios: His last major Tinseltown production was 2010’s The Karate Kid. Although Chan has appeared in animated features like The Lego Ninjago Movie and the Kung Fu Panda series, he has been concentrating on helping China expand its film industry. Social seems to be hoping that Chan will stick around a bit longer before he heads home. The Foreigner is racking up 84 percent positive sentiment. That’s much higher than the film’s score on Rotten Tomatoes, where it gets just 58 percent, with critics called it unoriginal and cliché-ridden. –Hugo Guzman
