The attraction comes to life in ‘Jungle Cruise’
I have been to Disneyland a few times, and each trip I must go on Jungle Cruise. The ride is even more fun to go on at night. When I heard a movie was being made on this attraction I was apprehensive at first. After getting a glimpse of it at D23 Expo 2019 my views on this film changed. I was able to get a screener for this film and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Jungle Cruise here:
Lily travels from London, England to the Amazon jungle and enlists Frank’s questionable services to guide her downriver on La Quila—his ramshackle-but-charming boat. Lily is determined to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities—possessing the power to change the future of medicine.
Thrust on this epic quest together, the unlikely duo encounters innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest. But as the secrets of the lost tree unfold, the stakes reach even higher for Lily and Frank and their fate—and mankind’s—hangs in the balance.
Jungle Cruise gets 8.5/10. For the majority of the film I had a blast watching this story unfold. There is plenty of action and these characters are likable to their core. Each one is far from perfect but they are ready to go on this adventure all the same. The visual effects are top notch and there are plenty of clever nods to this beloved attraction. The story took kind of a peculiar direction in the final act, but it was still a blast to watch it come to a close.
Jungle Cruise is out now and available on Disney Plus Premier Access. You can follow this movie on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
