Join 3 people on a crazy adventure in ‘Penultimate Quest’
It is fun getting to read longer stories sometimes. They aren’t my favorite, but when they sound good I am willing to check them out. When I heard about Penultimate Quest I hoped I might get to read it. I was able to get a digital copy of this graphic novel and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Penultimate Quest here:
Far across the Western Ocean on a mist-shrouded island guarded by giant sea monsters, heroes come to explore the mysterious dungeons that lie below the surface. None have yet to reach the bottom and return to tell the tale. Each party gathers daily for a new round of potion-making, sword-sharpening, armor-buying, and dungeon-crawling, and after hours of leveling up in dangerous battles with monstrous creatures from the depths, they rest and try again the next day when everything repeats. That is, until one adventurer stops to ask why. Is it endlessly exciting, or simply endless?
In a witty, genre-defying tale of magic, mystery, and philosophy, brave warriors must learn the difference between diversion and escape as they try to break the cycle of a penultimate quest in which the final fantasy never arrives.
I had a good time reading this graphic novel. It began simple enough, but took a surprise turn once someone began to wonder if there was a way off this strange place. Once they did this, a new adventure began for these 3 people. Along the way, they faced some deadly monsters and we learned about the mistakes they made in their lives. As this tale came to a close this graphic novel had a pretty satisfying ending. This might not be a graphic novel for everyone, but some readers are sure to enjoy it.
Penultimate Quest is available now. You can order this graphic novel on Amazon and at Barnes and Noble.
