Keanu is all about a little kitten who is catnapped and two friends who will do anything to get him back

Comedies come out quite often each year. Usually they poke fun at some type of genre and if done right can be pretty funny. Yet there are few films made like Keanu. I was apprehensive to see this movie because the trailers and the posters don’t do it much justice. I did get a chance to see Keanu earlier this week and here is what I thought of it. You can get an inside look at this comedy by clicking here.

Here is the synopsis for Keanu:

“Recently dumped by his girlfriend, slacker Rell (Jordan Peele) finds some happiness when a cute kitten winds up on his doorstep. After a heartless thief steals the cat, Rell recruits his cousin Clarence (Keegan-Michael Key) to help him retrieve it. They soon learn that a thug named Cheddar (Method Man) has the animal, and he’ll only give it back if the two men agree to work for him. Armed with guns and a gangster attitude, it doesn’t take long for the hapless duo to land in big trouble.”

Keanu is not as bad as I thought it would be. The movie is silly, very much so at times but there is one thing that makes it at an okay comedy, the little kitten named Keanu. It is truly an innocent little animal who has a big heart and has the ability to turn everyone around him into a happier person. There is no one who doesn’t fall in love with this cat onscreen, and it is easy to see why. From the moment he ends up in anyone’s life it changes them in a positive way. Yet sadly it is not enough. Keanu really doesn’t take itself that seriously and goes too far when it attempts to be funny. Sadly this hurt Keanu in my eyes. So much zany things go on that it was hard for me to really like this film. The cast are full of ridiculous characters that at times seem out of place for a movie with such a simple premise.

Keanu deserves 5/10. Like I said it had some things here that surprised me, and the ending although kind of silly was not a bad way to end this movie. It drags on a bit long sometimes and goes to extremes that are not always necessary. Yet cat lovers will adore Keanu and the adventures he gets to go on throughout this picture. It really is a comedy that is simple one moment and out of control zany the next. By no means your average comedy and not a terrible first try for this comedic duo. Overall Keanu is a movie that only some people will enjoy and fans of Key and Peele will probably love it. Yet if you don’t fit into either of these categories it is best to miss this one. You can also follow this movie on Facebook and Twitter.

If you are looking for a ridiculous comedy this is the film you want to see. If you enjoy peculiar comedies then you will find this one quite funny. If you are a cat lover you will love every moment Keanu shows up on screen. Yet for those looking for something amazing it is best to miss this one and see something else instead. Keanu comes out today.
