‘Lady Bird’ One of the best films I have seen this year
I get to see a lot of movies each year. Honestly, only a few of them turn out to be really good. Many films I see could go either way, be good or bad. When I got a pass to Lady Bird, I knew nothing about it. When I watched the trailer it gave me a bit of hope. I was able to see this movie early and here is my thoughts on it.
You can read the plot for Lady Bird here:
Christine McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) fights against but is exactly like her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mom (Laurie Metcalf), a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after her father (Tracy Letts) loses his job. Set in Sacramento, California in 2002, amidst a rapidly shifting American economic landscape, this movie is an affecting look at the relationships that shape us, the beliefs that define us, and the unmatched beauty of a place called home.
Lady Bird gets 10/10. I can’t say anything bad about this movie. Although the story is nothing new, the way it is told is touching and relate-able. The characters are all wonderful, even those who have obvious flaws. In many ways, this makes them more likable. It was a real joy to watch so many areas of my hometown show up in this film, including the theater where I was watching this movie. Hands down one of the best films I have seen this year.
