Love or her or hate her, Cyrus stays winning. And she scores again, with a great take on Outkast’s classic mega hit.
Miley Cyrus’ musical career is built on shock value. This time, instead of inciting rage in critics and parents around the world for drug fueled antics and promiscuous performances, she has earned a lot of approval for her recent remix of Outkast’s “Hey Ya.”
On her current album tour, Cyrus showed the world that she has some pretty talented songwriters working for her. ”Hey Ya” is an absolute classic, and the thought of Cyrus tampering with it is initially frightening.
However, she has surprised us yet again, because her rendition of the beloved track is entirely novel and ultimately appealing.

It’s not a clever arrangement of Outkast’s Hey Ya, it’s a bad copy of Obadiah Parker’s Cover which was brilliant. (Also mentioned by SoOriginal Above)
It was also performed this way on Scrubs by Ted in the episode where Janitor got married.

Just sounds like bad karaoke to me…..
She’s far from the first. Everyone n their cousin with an an acoustic cover and a YouTube page has sung it this way for years.
An acoustic guitar does not make it a country song. It’s an acoustic down-tempo version of a song with a particularly catchy melody. That is all…unless you are into her half-assed twerking.
Lol, i’ve been singing it like that since I saw this more than 6 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c745E7T_Wvg
