Are the holidays bringing you down? These Christmas songs always cheer Jay Snook up.
The holidays are right around the corner. Before you know it, Christmas will be here. It is a time that can be very stressful: buying gifts, setting up decorations and working long hours to do your best to make it perfect. If you are someone like me who is working multiple jobs and trying to make ends meet, Christmas can be a real drag. So what is there that can put you in the Christmas spirit? The answer is some wonderful Christmas songs. They can make you see the real spirit of Christmas, and lift you up when you are feeling down. Listen to some of my favorites, and I hope they help you during this most blessed time of the year.
1. Bless Us All (Muppet Christmas Carol)
Every time I hear this song it makes me think of family, love and how the biggest gift you can have which is having those around you that you love. No matter how low stressful the holidays get for me this song always raises my Christmas spirit.
2. There’s Always Tomorrow (Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer)
A song that doesn’t always have to apply to just the holidays. Whenever I feel at a lose or like a failure this song reminds me to not give up and keep going. Clarice’s voice is beautiful here and whenever I listen to this song I cannot help but smile.
3. Put One Foot in Front of the Other (Santa Claus is Coming to Town)
A very upbeat song that shows change can happen with a simple step. This song always finds a way to give me the energy to press forward. A great holiday song that is sure to give you the Christmas spirit people so desperately need this time of year.
4. You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch ( How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Jim Carrey version)
One of my favorite moments in the whole movie has to be when he sings this song. It puts a new twist on the original and the film is just wonderful. Once the song is over I am always smiling and I have laughed plenty to raise my spirits up.
5. White Christmas/ Green Christmas ( Year Without a Santa Claus, Snow Miser and Heat Miser)
This is a silly set of songs but they give viewers a good idea what views these two brothers have. I personally prefer White Christmas over Green Christmas but they are both good songs. There is a ton of humor in both sequences and it is sure to make you laugh quite often.
6. One More Sleep Til Christmas ( Muppet Christmas Carol)
There was a time in my family when we watched this film every year on Christmas Eve and this song always found a way to get all of us excited for the next morning. It is a fun scene that always finds a way to warm my heart. One of those songs that always puts me in the Christmas spirit every time.
7. Christmas Time (The Darkness)
I am not a huge fan of this band but this song is amazing. It has beautiful guitar riffs and his voice is impressive here. The first time I heard this song I knew it had to be on this list. The video is a bit odd at times but overall it does find a way to give my Christmas spirit that extra push.
8. Blue Christmas ( Year Without a Santa Claus)
Even though this song may appear to be sad it is still one of my favorite songs. It has been sung by a few different artists but this version has to be my favorite. The way it is animated and the voice of little girl signing together make this an amazing song.
9. Everyone Matters ( It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie)
Another song that may appear to be sad and in many ways it is. Yet there is more going on as the song progresses. It creates a pivotal moment that really changes the perception of both of Kermit and Gonzo once it is all over. I really like this film and think everyone should see it at least once.
Each of these songs have one thing in common, they all convey some part of the spirit of Christmas. They talk about the importance of family, friends and other aspects of this joyous holiday. Some songs on this list may seem a bit odd or out of place to you. I hope these songs help this season better for you and your loved ones.
