Ralph Peters is a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel who for a full decade appeared on Fox News and Fox Business shows as a commentator. He’s a war hawk who has regularly called for armed conflict and, in fact, earned a two-week suspension in 2015 following a Fox Business segment in which he declared that President Obama “is such a total pussy, it’s stunning.” But while all that would seem to make him a perfect fit for the network’s right-wing ethos, Peters is apparently fed up with what he calls Fox’s “propaganda machine.” In his email revealing that he would not be renewing his contract, Peters wrote: “Fox News is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers. Over my decade with Fox, I long was proud of the association. Now I am ashamed.” In criticizing Fox News’s primetime hosts “who have never served our country in any capacity,” he seemed to be taking a jab at Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson, among others. That earned a clapback from the network. In a statement, Fox News responded: “Ralph Peters is entitled to his opinion despite the fact that he’s choosing to use it as a weapon in order to gain attention. We are extremely proud of our top-rated primetime hosts and all of our opinion programing.” Even after his drop the mic moment he’s received almost even reviews despite Fox’s vocal viewers after removing the language of his email from our analysis. Over the past two days, “Ralph Peters” has a 46 percent positive score on Social. –Alex Shultz
