‘City of Lies’ is available now on Blu-Ray
I enjoy watching a nice drama every now and again. When done right this can be a great movie that tells an amazing story. When I heard about City of Lies I was hoping I might get to watch it. I was able to get a review copy of this film and here is my thoughts on it.
You can read the plot for City of Lies here:
What is worse, the crime or the cover-up? Based on the book, LAbyrinth, by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Randall Sullivan, this compelling crime-thriller follows the investigation into the infamous murder of iconic rap artist Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious B.I.G. Oscar® nominee Johnny Depp stars as determined LAPD detective Russell Poole, who spent nearly 20 years trying to solve the murder, and Oscar® and Primetime Emmy® winner Forest Whitaker as Jack Jackson, a journalist who teams up with Poole in search of the elusive truth. Together they explore why the case remains cold — and why a secretive division of the LAPD is seemingly set on keeping it that way.
This was certainly a thought provoking movie. It gives a new perspective on an unsolved case from an officer who worked on trying to solve it for years. Johnny Depp does a great job bringing his character to life and delivers plenty of dramatic moments. Forest Whitaker is wonderful as Jack Jackson who is on a mission to find out the truth about this case. What follows is two men who discover all kinds of shocking things and as this story comes to a close it leaves audiences with more questions than answers. It might not be a film for everyone but some people will enjoy it.
City of Lies is available now on Blu-Ray and Digital.
