Do you think you know the Legend? There is more to this show than just Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman.
—
This show has grown and evolved in its two season run. What began as a story of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman both rising from the grave is now much more. The show has seen its share of villains, and many times Abbie Mills and Ichabod have had to stop some kind of terrible monster. There have also been those who always appear to be more than they seem, and the reasons for what is going on in Sleepy Hollow are worse than viewers could ever imagine. There is an ancient evil who plans to destroy this town, and it seems only two people can stop them. This is the perfect show for fans of horror and monsters, and it is definitely not for kids.
The basic premise of the series is that one day, in 1781, Ichabod Crane was on a secret mission in the Colonial Army for George Washington when he came across the Headless Horseman on the battlefield. He is successful in killing the monster, but ironically he is killed at the exact same time. Over 200 years later, Ichabod rises from the grave, but he has no idea why. It turns out the Headless Horseman is also back from the dead, and it is up to him to stop him. Abbie receives a call that a headless man was killing people. She checks it out with her partner Sheriff Corbin who gets beheaded by the Horseman. This investigation reveals that there are two groups in town, one of good intentions and one that is pure evil. Eventually Abbie and Ichabod team up, and find out almost immediately that they have a lot of work to do. What is going on in Sleepy Hollow? Why do Abbie and Ichabod work so well together? Who does the Horseman work for, and just what are his evil plans?
Nichole Beharie (Abbie Mills) and Tom Mison (Ichabod Crane)work well together. They come from different time periods, but they are a great team. No matter how difficult things may get, they always find a way to stop the week’s oncoming threat. Clancy Brown (Sheriff Corbin) was made for this show. He is the perfect mentor to Abbie, and although he dies early in the series, it doesn’t mean he is gone from this universe. He is full of wisdom and has set the stage for the impending threat. His character is always there in some way to give Abbie strength, and I could not imagine this show without him. He is one of my favorite characters, I get excited every time he shows up. John Noble (Henry Parish) is a very interesting character. He begins as a simple sin eater, but there is more to this man than you think. He seems like an ally to Abbie and Ichabod, but he will shock and disgust you. His character evolves from the first to the second season. If you want to see how, check this show out. He is a man that is full of surprises, and brings much to the show. I watch it each week for the development of his character, and he never disappoints me.
This is a very unique TV show. The show has done an excellent job of evolving and growing, not just the characters, but the story line too. The show is full of surprises, and it is very cool to see the ways viewers get to know the people in Sleepy Hollow. The show is never what is seems, and just when you think you have it figured out it throws a curve ball your way. I really like the special effects and the way that Abbie and Ichabod always find a way to solve what seems to be impossible. I also enjoy how both characters have had the chance to reunite with their loved ones, and how they have converted people to their cause. It is no longer just their team, which makes their goals seem just a bit more reachable. No matter how grim or impossible things may seem there is always some light at the end of the tunnel. It is one of the best shows on right now, and if you have yet to see it you are missing out.
If you are a fan of suspense, this is the perfect show for you. If you like the paranormal and the supernatural, you must give this show a try. The way that the show keeps surprising you is a welcome change from the average TV drama fair. Check this show out on Monday nights at 9 pm on Fox.
