But one reboot has Social smiling and could change minds about reboots altogether. Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It first propelled the 29-year-old director to fame due to its feminist themes, assessment of patriarchal dating norms and portrayal of an African- American woman who, as he told Terry Gross of NPR’s Fresh Air, is “living her life, and not really caring about what people feel.” The series is 10 episodes long, which gives Lee more time to cover topics like sexuality, gentrification and national politics. Critics are giving it rave reviews, calling it the best series update in years, while Social is joining in the applause and handing the series 82 percent positives. –Hugo Guzman
