‘Still Star Crossed’ Expands on the famous Romeo and Juliet story
The story of Romeo and Juliet is quite famous. It has been retold in many films over the years. It is a tragic tale of two lovers who die far too soon. Yet there has never been a TV show about it before. Well ABC is looking to change that. Still Star Crossed plans on continuing this story long after the tragic finale. I was able to watch a screener of the pilot and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the premise for the pilot of Still Star Crossed here:
In the wake of Romeo and Juliet’s tragic deaths, the Montague and Capulet rivalry escalates. A new royal takes the throne in Verona and struggles to determine what is best for his city, which is at the epicenter of mayhem.
This Still Star Crossed pilot was interesting. It spent half of the episode re-telling the Romeo and Juliet story, but added with it some new elements. Viewers get to see much of the city of Verona and all of its splendor. It also does a great job showing how strong the rivalry truly was between the Capulets and the Montagues. Once the episode comes to a close, the stage is set for an intriguing show. It is not clear what is going to happen next, but it is obvious this rivalry is not dying down anytime soon.
