A new Lion King show is coming but intends on taking the series in a whole new direction
The Lion King is one of those Disney movies that is very popular with fans of all ages. It has continued in films like The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride and went in a different direction in Lion King 1 1/2. The series also lived on for a few seasons with Timon and Pumbaa but didn’t really focus much on the other characters in the series. There is even a Broadway play based on the Lion King that has done very well and is one of the best plays Disney has ever done. It looks like a continuation of the story is finally coming to Disney Junior and will have something for everyone to enjoy.
This new series will focus on Kion (Max Charles) who is the son of Simba (Rob Lowe) and Nala (Gabrielle Union) who is charged with assembling a team of animals to help him protect the Pride Lands. Some of the familiar characters from the past films will return with appearances by Kiara (Eden Riegel), Timon (Kevin Schon), Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella) , Rafiki (Khary Payton), Zazu (Jeff Bennett) and Simba.
But their will also be some new characters to help Kion like a cheetah named Fuli (Diamond White), a hippo named Beshte (Dusan Brown), an egret named Ono (Atticus Shaffer) and a honey badger named Bunga (Joshua Rush). These animals join together to make sure that Kion accomplishes the task his father has given him.
It has been a long time since fans have seen anything new in the Pride Lands but this cartoon hopes to change that. Whatever will happen to Kion and his friends it sure will be great to see this universe come to life again. The series also may have a few surprise characters come back that fans best keep an eye out for. The Lion Guard will premiere on November 22, 2015 at 7 pm on the Disney Channel.
