Once his hit show gets cancelled why not practice law in real life
Comedic shows are very common every season on network television. They have a very broad range but nothing has come out like The Grinder. It is a silly but unique new show coming this Fall to Fox. The show looks at some core issues and although it is hard to see anything like this happening in reality it is still quite clever. A good show that men will want to watch if they need to unwind after a hard day.
Dean Sanderson Jr. (Rob Lowe) was the star of a hit TV show for 8 years called The Grinder. It is all about a hardball lawyer who never gives up and makes sure his clients get the justice they deserve. After this long run the show gets cancelled and Dean returns home to figure out what he wants to do next. Dean’s brother Stewart Sanderson (Fred Savage) and his dad Dean Sanderson Sr. ( William Devane) are actual lawyers at a law firm that they both work at. One day Dean Jr. decides he wants to become a lawyer too. Stewart thinks this is crazy because his brother knows nothing when it comes to what law lingo really means. Stewart is sure that his brother will get bored and try something else, but this is not happening. How is Dean Jr. going to become a real lawyer? Why now of all times has he decided to do this? And in this process will Stewart be able to keep his sanity in check?
This is a new show that comes out as silly in a lot of ways but that is the idea. The main character creates some chaos the minute he comes back to town because he is such a well known star. Dean Jr. is someone who has big plans but they don’t always make sense in the real world. But the greatest thing about this show is that no matter how silly it may get sometimes the heart and suspense come on strong. There is a wonderful scene where Dean Jr. decides to help his brother Stewart with a tough case and once it is over it made this writer eager to see what happens on the next episode. It has some good things for men and the family can watch it too because there is something for everyone here.
The show gets 8/10. It is a new show that doesn’t always seem to take itself seriously but that is oddly enough what makes it funny. The sets are put together expertly and the family dynamic is wonderful. The brothers have their faults but in the end they do love each other. It is fun to see the pilot unfold and build something that is one of a kind. Surely you won’t want to miss this show when it airs Tuesday September 29 at 8:30pm.
If you want to see a fun silly new comedy on TV this is a show you will want to watch. If you are looking for a great show to sit down with the family this is the one to pick. Give this show an honest chance you will be glad you did.
