‘The Man Who Invented Christmas’ Tells a pretty interesting tale
Christmas is a big deal in America these days. It is one of the most popular holidays of all. It brings with it decorations, gifts and lots of celebration. But it turns out it wasn’t always this way. The creation of one book had a big impact on this holiday. The Man Who Invented Christmas tells the story of how this book came to life. I was able to see this film early and this is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for The Man Who Invented Christmas here:
A movie that tells the magical journey that led to the creation of Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer), Tiny Tim and other classic characters from A Christmas Carol. The film shows how Charles Dickens (Dan Stevens) mixed real life inspirations with his vivid imagination to conjure up unforgettable characters and a timeless tale, forever changing the holiday season into the celebration we know today.
The Man Who Invented Christmas gets 7/10. It does tell a pretty good story, but it is not a perfect movie. What really bothered me about it was the timing. If this film had come out in early December I would have embraced it more. It coming out before Thanksgiving was a bad move in my opinion. I do like how it goes into the past of Charles Dickens and the difficulty he had in writing this story. The stand out star though is Christopher Plummer as Scrooge. He is everything you expect from this character and so much more. I think some people will like this movie, but it certainly won’t be for everyone.
