‘Unforgettable’ Takes Crazy Ex to a Whole New Level

‘Unforgettable’ is predictable at times, but for the most part was okay

I enjoy watching a good thriller sometimes. When they are done right they can tell an amazing story. Unforgettable is not one of those films. The story may seem familiar, but it does add a few twists to make it unique. I was able to see it early and here is what I thought of it.

Barely coping with the end of her marriage, Tessa Connover (Katherine Heigl) learns that her ex-husband, David (Geoff Stults), is now happily engaged to Julia (Rosario Dawson). Trying to settle into her new life, Julia believes she has finally met the man of her dreams, the man who can help her forget her troubled past. Soon, Tessa’s jealousy starts to consume her, and she will stop at nothing to turn Julia’s paradise into the ultimate nightmare.

I liked Unforgettable, at least for a while. The story is not brand new, but it was interesting to see the narrative unfold at first. As it progresses though, things get pretty ridiculous. Katherine Heigl plays a different kind of role here, one that she gives her all to make good. Towards the end though is where this film gets really bad. The final scenes are just awful, culminating in a finale that was too over the top for me. The ending was not bad, but could have been better. This is an okay thriller, but I have seen better. Unforgettable gets 5/10. The story starts good but loses steam as it moves along. As far as thrillers go, this one was okay. Yet it could have been so much better. Some people may like it, but it won’t be for everyone.
