Get a new perspective in war in ‘Yellow Birds’
I have seen my share of war dramas lately. Some of these films can be bad, while others can be pretty amazing. I knew little about Yellow Birds going in except that it had a pretty impressive cast. I was able to get a review copy and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Yellow Birds here:
Against the explosive backdrop of the Iraq War, young soldiers Brandon Bartle (Ehrenreich) and Daniel Murphy (Sheridan) forge a deep bond of friendship. When tragedy strikes the platoon, one soldier must return home to face the hard truth behind the incident, and help a grieving mother (Aniston) find peace.
Yellow Birds was an okay film, but it wasn’t perfect. The story drags on a number of times as this film moves forward. It also keeps viewers in suspense for a long time about Murphy, but it made up for this when the reveal finally came. The cast is great and the story is not bad, but I have seen better war dramas than this one. I can see some people liking it, but it will not be for everyone.
The Yellow Birds arrives on Blu-Ray tomorrow. You can follow this movie on Facebook.
