WATCH: Carrie Fisher’s best line was cut from ‘Force Awakens’

One of the traits the world loved about the late Carrie Fisher’s run as Princess Leia was that she was a damsel far ahead of her time. She could handle her own distress, thank you very much.

When Luke comes to rescue her from the Death Star in Episode IV: A New Hope, she famously responds:

Leia didn’t show much of that confident grit in 2015’s The Force Awakens, but she definitely hints at it in this deleted scene.
In the scene, Leia — now General Organa — tells a resistance soldier to get in touch with the Galactic Senate and demand action against the First Order. “Not all the senators think I’m insane,” she tells the soldier. “Or maybe they do. I don’t really care.”
Who knows why the very brief exchange was left on the cutting room floor, but it has that brazen sparkle that Fisher was so known for, personally and professionally.
