Vashon Island coffin maker Marcus Daly builds environmentally friendly and economical wooden coffins as an alternative to the metal industry standard but thats not the most important part of his coffins.
“We bury enough metal in the ground to rebuild the Golden Gate Bridge,” says Marcus Daly, who handcrafts economical and ecological wooden coffins as an alternative burial method. However, for Daly, the most important part of building a coffin is that it can be carried, which reflects his philosophy for life. We were meant to be carried by others; we come into life being carried and we leave life the same way, there is no reason to believe that our interdependence with others disappears in the spaces between life and death.
