With a life-size Noah’s Ark, the latest attraction in Washington D.C. might sound like an Evangelical pilgrimage destination, but visitors to the Museum of the Bible could be surprised with the level of thought put into this tribute to the most influential book of all time. Live actors, curated exhibits and carefully preserved artifacts and documents have garnered good reviews from Social, which gives the museum 81 percent positives. Even seasoned Biblical scholars are impressed. Writing for The Washington Post, Wheaton College Professors Christa Ballard Tooley and Matthew J. Milliner spoke favorably about the museum’s straightforwardness regarding the authenticity of its artifacts (providing disclaimers when something couldn’t be proven with complete accuracy). But even before opening day last week, those artifacts have gotten the Museum of the Bible in trouble. Earlier this year, museum founder David Green was forced to give up artifacts that were discovered to have been smuggled out of Iraq. Other artifacts, such as the widely advertised Dead Sea Scrolls fragments, are believed to be forgeries by some experts. –Hugo Guzman
