President Donald Trump’s approval ratings continue to plummet, and his recent endorsement of alleged child molester Roy Moore in the Alabama Senatorial race probably didn’t help, but he might’ve stumbled upon an issue Social is actually on board with: Going to the moon. On Monday, Trump signed a directive to put American astronauts on the moon again. The directive doesn’t contain a timeline or estimated costs, both of which “may emerge in February when the administration’s proposal for fiscal year 2019 is released,” according to The New York Times. Still it’s the beginning of a process that could return the U.S. to the moon for the first time since 1972. NASA programs under previous presidents have largely stalled or been cancelled, but this proposed mission has an intriguing purpose that might help it stay alive. NASA wants to explore the possibility of setting up a space station on the moon that would eventually be used as a pit stop on the way to Mars. Although Social might be more excited if Trump himself was taking the trip, it is certainly intrigued by his proposal. Over the last three days, “Trump + Moon” has a 76 percent positive score. –Alex Shultz
