Need some hope? This is what happens when determination meets a good heart.
According to this video spotted by Upworthy, a young man went by a Cajun restaurant as asked the owner, Papa Roux, how far it was to a particular intersection. Papa responded that it was at least another six or seven miles, so he should probably take a bus to get there.
Twenty minutes later when Papa Roux ran into him again and asked why he wasn’t on the bus, the young man responded that he couldn’t afford to ride the bus until he got a job. Papa Roux said:
Here’s a kid walking almost ten miles in the ice and slush and snow for the hope of a job at minimum wage. That’s the kind of story that your parents used to tell, my parents used to tell, ‘Uphill both ways in the snow.’
He gave the young man a ride to the interview and being moved by his willingness and determination, Papa Roux offered him a job along the way.
Amazing!
A huge thank you to our friends at Upworthy for this incredible pick-me-up story!

I’d want my employees to be a little more resourceful and use more imagination — take the bus without paying for a ticket, and you get there a lot faster.
When he tells the story to his grandchildren, it will be 20 miles in the snow, uphill both ways, and he had to fight a bear to get there, all for a nickel an hour job.
