Beginning in October, 82 Kohl’s locations in Chicago and Los Angeles will allow people who want to return unpackaged Amazon products to simply drive to one of their stores and send the goods back to a fulfillment center free of charge. Kohl’s is counting on increased foot traffic leading to additional sales, while Amazon gets something out of this, too—10 Kohl’s in Chicago and L.A. will open an “Amazon smart home experience” featuring products like the Echo and Fire. Customers returning items at one of the designated stores will also get to use a special parking spot to make the process as quick as possible. The deal was made public last week, and on Tuesday, Kohl’s CEO Kevin Mansell announced he will be retiring in May 2018. For now, he gets to see Social psyched about a smart idea: Over the last seven days, “Kohls + Amazon + Returns” pulls 96 percent positives. –Alex Shultz
