Dennis Jenkins Jr. could easily have given way to despair after an injury cut his budding NFL career radically short before he had even had a chance to truly embrace it. However, Jenkins did not even consider walking that dark path tread by too many before him as he already felt himself to have been a path of light since his earliest boyhood. Raised on rock-solid, old-time faith that called to him with answers in his time of confusion, Jenkins embraced only one vital lesson from that trying time: no one is built for just one brand of success.
With that open-minded ethos in mind, Jenkins set about founding Executive Commercial Cleaning on the twin pillars of quality and integrity, as well as a return to the construction ethos that he had been brought up in with the formative male figures in his own youth. From this humble, trusting mindset, much more than Jenkins could have ever imagined for himself has blossomed. Now with 62 employees and 103 contractors under his supervision and care, handling a huge array of construction needs of every variety, and Jenkins is ready to share the wisdom he has gained along the way in the hope that other men might recognize their fullest potential no matter how dim the day they find themselves in may appear to be.
Two key guideposts have brought Jenkins to the forefront of his industry and transformed his sense of motivation. The first of those is the faith he was raised in, which he believes led him to recognize a major gap in the market where high-quality cleaning companies could have served his real estate properties. Jenkins was not raised to believe one job more important than another and the attitude held by some that cleaning was unglamorous never crossed his mind. Leveraging opportunities and catering to a visible need in a growing market did. Concerned only with creating a business that could intrinsically understand its clients and provide certifiable bang for their buck, he saw nothing mundane about the automatic money-making possibilities before him.
The second overarching theme paving Jenkins’ success path has been an emphasis on the importance of mental and physical health. After witnessing a close friend suffer a debilitating stroke at a very young age, Jenkins realized that busy entrepreneurs often prioritize the expansion of their enterprises at the cost of their own well-being. Recognizing burnout as a monumental contributive factor in the reasons why business owners do not look after themselves as well as they should, he committed himself to working out 4-5 times per week and making sure that at least one meal of his day is made at home with ingredients he can control. Add in a dash of daily meditation and Jenkins believes most men, whether business owners or not, can enjoy greater productivity and a much higher quality of life, not to mention longevity.
When queried about his own next steps, Jenkins is characteristically bright, empathetic, and forward-looking: “We are looking at rebuilding a 108-unit complex geared toward affordable housing to try and combat some of this high inflation in rent that is driving so many people from their homes. We hope to contribute at least a small chance for homeowners to find a place to live that is both comfortable and fits their budget.” Always looking up and looking to help others, there can be no doubt that Jenkins will continue to bring much more than one good thing to every professional scenario that comes his way.
