It’s little wonder, since so many online interactions depend on connections that can’t be throttled back by service providers. The Federal Communications Commission’s decision to rescind Obama-era protections for Net Neutrality inspired negative sentiment ratings in the mid-80s earlier this year. Now, one state’s mission to keep web users on equal footing has Social singing hosanna. Washington became the first state to pass a law preventing Internet service providers from blocking or slowing content delivery or services based on whether they were paid to favor that kind of traffic. Gov. Jay Inslee said at the bill signing that an open Internet is essential to free speech, and Social couldn’t agree more. The decision got 94 percent positive sentiments online, with many social media users thanking the Washington legislature and Inslee for the move. –Hugo Guzman
