As a master woodworker and craftsman, William Brown has been enriching his field for over two decades. Throughout his life, he has learned various methods to showcase his love for the art. He mastered table saws, wood routers, and carving knives to great effect. It is this passion that led to the success he is known for to this day.

One major accomplishment he has achieved is one that many aspire to relate to. He has managed to create a booming career centered around his woodworks. Brown utilizes his stunning passion to make a living.

Not only has he made a large earning by crafting fine art, but he also achieves another feat on a broader scale. Brown fulfills his need to help others in his work.

Perhaps his single greatest accomplishment though is teaching the next generation of woodworkers. His Main Coast workshop in Camden has been running for two years, bringing in aspiring craftsmen to the small town. Brown’s success story and expertise draws in even the most talented to learn under the best.

Craftsmanship over anesthetics

The Maine Coast Workshop is located in Camden, Maine. Having a population of roughly five thousand, it is a quiet and humble town known for its beautiful nature and woods. Master craftsman William Brown has happily called the area his home for years. However, his journey into woodworking did not begin here.

Brown’s youth was spent in Chester County, Pennsylvania. There, he apprenticed underneath the master craftsman E. Townsend Moore. He discovered his passion for the craft within the walls of Moore’s workshop.

Later on, he utilized his talent to create a part-time career during his time at university. He studied quite diligently during his tutelage at the school and majored in medicine. Later, he graduated and began a career in anesthesiology. His passion for woodworking simmered during his time in the medical field, but it never faded. It was too entrenched into his soul.

Brown’s yearning for the art grew and grew. It could not be smothered, as he couldn’t help but desire the workshop more than the office. His preference for woodworking rather than practicing medicine could not be understated. Luckily, he had many connections within the medical and woodworking industry that created a new clientele. It didn’t take long at all for Brown to become a household name among those searching for unique wooden works inspired by the 18th century.

Sharing his passion

Although he has enjoyed striking success, Brown did not forget his humble roots in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He looked back at his own journey and wondered how he could aid others to accomplish the same.

Inspired, Brown launched his woodworking school, Maine Coast Workshop. Included in the workshop is anything an aspiring student would need to accomplish mastery: namely, high-tech table saws, carving knives, and more. The goal of the workshop is to help those interested in pursuing their woodworking passion and find a career in it.

According to media publication News Center Maine, the woodworking school has a scholarship program for interested youth. The scholarship program is open to Americans all across the US, from the west to the east.

In the future, Brown hopes more scholarship money will be available. With proper funding, it is expected that Veterans will also be granted free or discounted courses in the school. However, these benefits are not yet available.

The Mozart of Woodworking

Currently, the most outstanding accolade of the workshop is the course of Alexander Grabovetskiy. The Russian-born master craftsman teaches a 7-day class at the school, where only 15 people are allowed to join.

Grabovetskiy may not ring a bell for some. However, in the world of the arts, he was once the Mozart of woodworking. Alexander Grabovetskiy was known as the world’s best woodcarver and still is by the standards of many.  Either way, he is still a globally recognized and respected name in the community.

These ventures are just the start of the Maine Coast Workshop. Brown aspires to turn the school into a hub for talent and draw in various top-ranked craftsmen to give students the best possible education in this wonderful field.
