“I got into the chauffeuring business just by seeing a limo and saying ‘there goes my car,’” said Gerardo Ortiz, 50-year old entrepreneur and native Angeleno. “Three days later, I came home with a limousine,” he said.“The name of my company is Pacific Car Service Corporation. We provide transportation to executives and anyone who needs executive transportation to and from the airport.” Pacific Car Service Corporation operates under Ortiz Management Group (OMG). Gerardo entered this line of work in 1988. Since then, he has tirelessly worked and built a strong network of clients. “I’ve probably done hundreds of events. Over the past twenty years, I’ve provided services for about 40,000. I did all my research and development by surrounding myself with the best people in the industry. Today I have over 27 years of experience serving people with thousands of customers using my business.”

The chauffeuring business has allowed him to meet interesting individuals. Gerardo recalled a run-in with the late king of pop:
“The most famous person I’ve ever driven is Michael Jackson. We picked up Marlon Brando’s family in Beverly Hills and drove them to the Neverland Ranch. When Michael Jackson came to greet them, he said ‘Hey, I like this bus, can you pick me up tomorrow to take me to Vegas?’ And we did. To our amazement, Michael Jackson had a very personable conversation with the chauffeur. He had a chit chat for about 20 minutes and then went back to his family. At three in the morning, I was the secondary driver on the way back from Vegas. My memory was seeing him in his overcoat and his hat. [Michael came to the front of the bus] saying ‘I gotta go to the restroom.’ The guy at the Shell looked at him in amazement like ‘What is Michael Jackson doing here?! ’It was quite comical.”-Gerardo OrtizHe’s also driven for former Vice-President, Dick Cheney. Gerardo mentioned taking him to a Starbucks near USC. According to Gerardo, Cheney said that after the presidency passed to Obama, very few people recognize him, so he had no objections to going inside for his coffee.

You can get up one day at three in the morning and go back and forth three times then take someone to dinner that night. The next day you could be doing paperwork all day while waiting on calls from clients.”

Pacific Car Service Corporation services anywhere within a 75-mile radius of Los Angeles. The company extends that radius under special circumstances. “Univision hired me to drive a very popular DJ and his crew to Washington, DC to deliver 9,000 petitions to the White House. It was at least three or four tons of paper. I bought a trailer for it.” The company offers low-end sedan services for $55 an hour plus gratuity and fees, stretch limo services for $65 an hour and party bus services for up to $300 an hour.
Gerardo agreed that it is important that one follows his or her dreams and offered this statement. “You choose. Your dreams or someone else’s. If you’re not following your dreams, you’re following someone else’s.”
