So Ready for Fake Phone That Satisfies Swiping Urge

The Substitute Phone, created by Austrian designer Klemens Schillinger, is a plastic block designed to mimic a real phone, with one key difference. Instead of a screen, the front is loaded with a set of stone beads, which can be swiped and rotated in the familiar motions used on a touch screen. Schillinger told the British architecture and design magazine Dezeen that the Substitute Phone is meant to curb anxiety associated with constantly checking your phone, and although they’re not for sale yet, Schillinger’s website says that an online shop is coming soon. When the Substitute Phone finally drops, you can expect Social to line up for one. The device is getting 82 percent positive sentiments. –Hugo Guzman
