There’s the Bentley’s, the Rolex’s and the designer suits, but we noticed something else trending amongst professional footballers which you might not be as familiar with.
Guaranteed you will find this brand in football club changing room lockers, or in the homes of the Premier League footballers. Yes, we recently discovered Hairbond United Kingdom hair care products.
Did you ever noticed how a footballer’s hair is near perfect and practically always looks its best? This is the footballer’s secret which is used to keep every hair exactly where it should be.
Hairbond United Kingdom is a particular brand of men’s professional hair styling products and has been promoted by some familiar faces over the last decade.
Today we are joined by football and brand expert Scott Michaels who founded the Hairbond brand back in 2008. We have a couple of questions.
How did Hairbond take off and which footballers use it?
Well, we have a very long list of players now and in the beginning, it was a lot easier to track. After Hairbond years of research and development, I launched Hairbond products back in 2008. At that time, male grooming wasn’t quite as big as it is today and there weren’t any professional hair styling manufacturers really appealing or marketing towards professional footballers. As a big football fan myself, I knew what I had been working on with was the right brand to fill this gap in the market.
I started off by introducing the products to some local football academies and the interest levels were beyond what I could have wished for. By publicizing my journey of visiting more clubs on social media, the story soon traveled and I started receiving direct messages from some big companies and football names who wanted to know what all the noise was about.
It wasn’t until I was discussing Hairbond products with former England striker Michael Owen and his 3 million followers over Twitter and not long after it lead to Manchester United’s Phil Jones wanting a suitcase load to take for the England players for the World Cup that year.
Meanwhile, the Hairbond story really appealed to barbershops and hair salons around the world, those who wanted to join our seller and education team. Running with the football theme, Liverpool FC goalkeeper Simon Mignolet signed up as the brands official exclusive ambassador. We did a cool photoshoot with him at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. We then started to receive product endorsements from more players who had just been sat in the barbershop chair and asked if they could be part of the Hairbond hype.
Since then the sales and endorsements from thousands of players haven’t stopped from around the world. Hairbond now has a nickname, “The Premier League of Hair Products”.
Most recently in England, we have seen support from current international players, Jordan Pickford (Everton), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Harry Winks (Tottenham Hotspur), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton), and Jamie Vardy (Leicester City).
Other International players we have captured include, Fraser Forster (England) Christian Fuchs (Austria), Morgan Schneiderlin, Yohan Cabaye (France) Lucas Leiva (Brazil) Virgil Van Dijk (Holland)
Not just popular in the Premier League, but the Hairbond trend travels throughout the Championship and lower English leagues too.
Why do footballers associate with Hairbond?
Over the past decade, footballers have become synonymous with the brand and it’s had a positive impact on new players who’ve never discovered them before. As a global brand with hundreds of retailers all we’ve done is talk about football and be creative with new hair products for the latest hairstyling trends.
It probably also contributes that Hairbond products aren’t the cheapest in the market either. We only manufacture proven professional quality styling products and that comes at a cost. All products are paraben and sulfate-free and whilst there are different ones for a range of hair types, they’re all easily washed out. With the finest results footballers love, it’s a case of “you get what you pay for” and whilst Hairbond is a luxurious, premium brand, it is also within reach of an affordable commodity for the mass market.
As well as Hairbond we believe you also run other companies for footballers?
Yes, dealings with footballers has lead me to work in many other areas in football. I took over the classic Stylo Matchmakers football boot brand recently, made famous by the likes of football legends Pele, George Best, and Kevin Keegan.
I also run the Pro Footballers football agency for players as well as work with club owners on behalf of The Football People.
