Set to be released on Sept. 22, it’s the next baby step up from the iPhone 7 and starts at $699, with the 8 Plus starting at $799. Among the upgrades to the device is a new glass back cover that The Verge says is “a somewhat fresher look.” It also has a practical purpose—the glass allows for wireless charging, something that’s quickly catching on with the latest slew of smartphones (and will also be featured with the X model). The iPhone 8 has an A11 Bionic processor, meaning everything will run a tad faster than previous iterations, and the 8 Plus in particular got some impressive camera improvements. And for those afraid of change, the 8 and 8 Plus keep the home button, which the X is ditching. All that said, some reviewers have remarked that the improvements aren’t very notable, and Social seems to feel lukewarm as well. Over the last day, “iPhone 8” has a 56 percent positive score on Twitter. –Alex Shultz
