This is a comment by The Blurpo on the post “Your Very Own Live 3D Virtual Girlfriend?“
“I was wondering when this would show up here at the GMP. I’m totally fond of this technology. The applications are huge. It could revolutionize what we consider gaming; imagine playing Left4dead with tech? Or some well known retro games like Doom Halflife or Quake? Wow is the word. But it may also lead to some unforeseen consequences like PTSD from gaming?
“Anyways, gaming and pornography aside, the more practical applications could be a virtual teacher. A cybernetic nanny? A companion for lonely people? A tourist guide? A tech assistant? Maybe even a virtual psychologist? Maybe it could even be used for some for therapy. Who knows. But I would not be surprised if the military show some interest in this. Like in gaming, soldiers can ALSO be trained using this tech. Instead fighting against zombies or alien creature, they will fight enemy soldiers and at the same time avoiding civilian causalities.
“Yes, I like this. Endless possibilities!“
