What do you love about parenthood? Paul and Pam share their thoughts about why everyone should be able to choose to stay at home or not, and why they love the choices that they made.
These are comments by Paul Swiergosz, paul kidwell, and pam sproul on the post “‘Stay at Home Dads Can’t Be Content’: You Can’t Be Serious“.

Well put Eric. As the Army veteran author of the piece you reference, I had plenty of people question my choice. I came to understand that “If have to explain it, they just don’t/won’t get it.” It’s just an individual choice thing and some folks aren’t wired that way. I admittedly wasn’t a few years ago. I am now. Enjoy your life and time with your kids. Go catch a Cubs game with them before they ruin Wrigley completely!

I hear ya, soul brother. As the stay-at-home,work-from-home parent, I logged tens of thousands of miles chauffeuring our son, and countless hours food shopping, cooking, house cleaning, dog-walking, and PTA-ing. What I gained through this experience I cannot measure; but I do know that it was the most important second, full-time job I ever imagine. Tough as hell and incredibly delightful. And yes, I am man enough to have embraced the challenge; successfully. As far as James S is concerned, if he has any doubts about one’s manhood because they stay at home to raise a kid; well, maybe you’d like to take it outside muchacho.

As a stay at home mom, it’s refreshing to hear from Dad’s who “get it” and are willing to stand up for job equality in all jobs. There are lots of people who wouldn’t/couldn’t choose this as their job… which to me should certainly say something about what a big job it is! Both frustrating & rewarding beyond measure! If you’re “doing it right” (which involves getting lots of things wrong!) then you’re working really hard at something you’re passionate about! Isn’t that what should define how content we are in what we do?
