This comment was by Erik in reference to the post – What Gives You the Right to Discriminate?
The term “straight” is a hold-over from a time when sexuality was poorly understood, and does not imply “better” or “normal” in any scientific or moral sense.
And the laws that protect gays and transgenders also protect cis and straight people–it’s just that they don’t often need it because they are so rarely denigrated or disadvantaged for being so.
The religious liberty laws are different, though, in that they allow ONLY religious people to behave in a discriminatory manner. This is not protection: it is privilege.
Feel free to practice your religion, or live by whatever code you deem fit for your life. Feel free NOT to be gay. Feel free NOT to use birth control. Feel free to NOT eat bacon. You are NOT free to force others to live the same way as you or to punish them for not doing so.

Feel free to love porn, or hate it. What you feel, what you think, what you do – is no one’s business but yours.
Same thing with your feels about what (not who) you eat.
Same thing with your feels about what and who you support in politics.
Feel free to be deep in your business.
Feel free to stay the hell out of mine.
Does that about cover it? Because THIS is the conversation no one is having.
