Are the books on your date’s shelves a deal breaker?

Yes. In part because I don’t think Ayn Rand is that horrible (admittedly, I’ve only read Atlas Shrugged – but did find it expanded my own world view), and in part because, even if a difference in values may prevent a relationship it shouldn’t prevent a friendship – one that will expose me to a very different perspective to my own.
In this day and age, people seem all too happy to surround themselves with people and news sources that support the things we already believe (and technology has only made that easier to do). We should be more willing to listen to those with whom we disagree, because as uncomfortable as it may make us, it will push us to improve our own thinking and ideas.
